1963 Gibson Byrdland Archtop Electric Guitar - Used
One of the nicest early '60s Byrdlands we've had in a while, with great coloring and overall condition showing light wear. Original finish, tuners, frets, pickguard, bridge and tailpiece. Pickups are original patent # versions but they have been out of the guitar at some point, and as photo shows the pickup cutouts in the top were slightly enlarged but why we can't determine. Note that there is a slight separation in the black backstrap veneer at the base of the headstock, but it's confined to the veneer only, with no sign of any crack in the maple headstock itself (no sign of it when you remove the truss rod cover). Typical Gibson lacquer crazing, some shirt button wear to finish on the back but coloring was unaffected. Frets show only light wear as shown in photo. Why someone wrote "1967" on the inside of the back, just above the orange label, is anybody's guess as serial number 61662 on back of headstock and on label have no relation to that year. Includes a very nice brown Lift
