2008 Maui Music Longneck Concert Ukulele- Used
Long-time Gryphonites might remember when we stocked Maui Music ukuleles in the late 1990s. These were crafted in Hawaii by Pete Leiberman, a skilled craftsman with a keen eye for design. Sadly, on December 27, 2000 his workshop burned down and while he was able to rebuild it, he decided to continue as a solo builder and not sell through stores, a decision we were sorry to see but completely understood. Happily, one of his used instruments shows up every now and then. This lovely long-neck concert was made in 2008 and it’s a fine example of Peter’s work. The top back and sides are made with figured koa. The top and soundhole are bound in abalone and the fingerboard and headstock are bound in ivoroid outline with turquoise-colored purfling. This concert has a long, 17-inch scale length, which produces more volume, thanks to the slightly higher string tension. This ukulele is in excellent lightly played condition. Includes a semi-soft case.
