Begins with a description of late 17th century and early 18th century Connecticut, with remarks on the people and culture of that time. Treats with the first pastor, John Bulkley, and the books that he wrote; he was pastor of the church for nearly thirty years. The second pastor was the Rev. Ephraim Little - his times were that of the Great Awakening, with some discussion of the numbers added to the congregation during the 1740's, as a result of the revival. A description of George Whitefield and his ministry in New England reveals that the closest that evangelist was
