1939 French sewing student "Tableau Standard" with 12 individual examples of sewing and knitting mounted on 6 panels, accompanied by four leaves of typed notes plus two loose examples of mending. Once part of a student portfolio, each leaf has three punctures at the left side and the remnants of torn-off paper notes on the versos. The panels measure 13 x 10 inches each and are in Good to Very Good condition with sunning and discoloration from old adhesive, light soil and wrinkling. The pieces represent a range of construction and decorative techniques, including patterns with running stitches, buttonholes, decorative borders for embroidery, bridging woven textiles, buttonholes, those incredible miniature knits and myriad other tactile delights.
