This coin is in a protective plastic flip cover and zippered plastic bag, coming from Larry Hahn's personal collection left to him by a very dear friend. It is a beautiful AU Philippines 1907-S 1-Peso. A neodymium magnet test confirms its authenticity as the magnet does not stick. During the Philippine-American War of 1899-1902, the United States gained control of the Philippine Islands after its victory in the Spanish-American War. In an effort to assist in the reconstruction of the Filipino economy, President Theodore Roosevelt requested the San Francisco Mint to produce silver Pesos that could be exchanged for American currency. These coins, struck from 1903-1912, were compatible with the old Spanish issues and were exchanged at a rate of two Philippines pesos for one American dollar. Features of the Coin: Condition:
