The Chupa Chupa tree, also known as Matisia cordata, is a rapidly growing tree whose soft, juicy, sweet, and orange-yellow flesh with a melon, cantaloupe, and tropical flavor surrounds 2 to 3 seeds. This tree can be found growing naturally in the lowland rainforests of Peru, Ecuador, and nearby areas of Brazil, particularly around the Javari River mouth. It is a common sight in the western part of Amazonas, southwestern Venezuela, and the Cauca and Magdalena Valleys of Colombia. The tree thrives and produces exceptionally well near the sea in Tumaco, Colombia.
