Reduce heat and stir in the vegetable seasoning packet from soup mix. - Aluminum reacts with the acid in tomatoes and may cause a metallic taste. Return to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes. Add the tomato puree and brown sugar, stir and return to a gentle simmer, covered for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and slowly stir in the cream. Cook uncovered at low heat for another 5 minutes.
