Description: Volume 1, Issue 1 of the VOICES newsletter. The BROTHERRS Project (Blacks Reaching Out Through Health Education and Risk Reduction Services) offered educational seminars, community outreach, and risk reduction groups to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in Chicago's Black community in the 1990s. A letter from the editor Milton Howze states, "VOICES is a health care newsletter, but it is more than that. It is also about the reaffirmation and self empowerment of life. Black Life." (page 9). The newsletter includes an interview with Dr. Richard McDonald, who specialized in treating HIV/AIDS, as well as an extensive resource directory. Additional topics include a recent benefit gala, HIV testing, the difference between HIV and AIDS, statistics on HIV/AIDS in Chicag
