Koi Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)
Remarks: Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) are easy-going cichlids that do well in almost any community tank. They can tolerate a wide range of pH values and are peaceful enough to be kept with most tetras and other peaceful cichlids. Breeding Angelfish can often be achieved by giving them a vertical, flat surface to spawn on, such as a leaf of an Amazon Sword or a piece of slate leaning against the wall. Fry will be cared for until a few weeks after they are free swimming, though you can remove the fry or eggs and hatch them artificially if you wish. Koi Angels vary greatly in pattern, and there is no guarantee as to the amount of orange, black, or white in the fish. Some of the Koi Angel fish will have red gill plates, that is because the gill plate is translucent. This is because the Koi Angel were originally created with the blushing Angel fish and the blushing some times shows up on the Koi Angels.
