
St Catherine of Siena, Patron of Nurses and Nursing Students, Handmade Necklace
I designed and carved this pendant and then cast it in lead-free pewter. With this necklace, nurses and nursing students can be accompanied and inspired by a saint as they work or study. The pendant comes on either an 18-inch or 24-inch chain (please specify which you'd prefer). The piece comes in a jewelry pouch and with a card stating the following: "Catherine (1347-80), the twenty-fourth child of a dyer and his wife, spent several years of her early life in prayer and virtual solitude in a back room of her parents’ home. At the end of this period she emerged and entered the world with devotion and a passion to help and heal. She tirelessly nursed the sick in local hospitals and unceasingly offered care during the plague of 1374. Thus she became a patron saint of nurses.
