The presence in the home of a child with common mental health conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, or a disruptive behavior disorder makes visiting a church far more difficult for affected families. In this breakout, attendees will recognize components of the first-time visitor experience in children’s and student ministries that disadvantage families impacted by mental illness, explore strategies for better preparing kids and families for a positive initial experience, and leave equipped to create ministry environments more welcoming to a neurodiverse population.
