The 2019 Mach 4 is designed for Fox Live Valve integration, Fox’s new electronically controlled suspension system with five bump threshold settings preset by Fox—and Pivot, in this case—for a specific bike and its intended use. The system’s three accelerometers stealthily placed in key locations detect pitch (uphill, downhill or flat) and freefall and cause the suspension to respond accordingly. Mode changes take only three milliseconds—100 times faster than the blink of an eye—so it’s designed to react to feedback before the rider feels it.
