I Love My Melanin was created to affirm how beautiful brown skin is. There is a lot of media that can make us feel less than when it comes to so many aspects of ourselves, one being our skin color. It is extremely important to instill self love within ourselves to combat all the negative stereotypes and craziness we are all fed through the media.   There are certain narratives that are being pushed and if we are not solid in our own foundation, we can succumb to the negativity. One of these notions that some of us are aware of is colorism. This affects our community in many ways but specifically, there are women who are bleaching their skin and using skin lightening cream in order to fit into ridiculous European standards. The rabbit hole goes deep but it starts with self love. We are taught subliminally and right in our faces that we are not beautiful but that is the furthest from what is reality.
