Original French WWI Named Military Medal & Croix de Guerre Grouping with Attached Citation - Henri Cosio, 52nd Regiment Colonial Infantry
Original Items. One-of-a-Kind. This is a very interesting French citation award document along with the soldier’s two original medals, the Croix de Guerre and the Military Medal, attached to the certificate. The set is identified to Corporal Henri Cosio, of the 52nd Regiment, Colonial Infantry, a very scarce unit to find anything from. The bottom of the citation certificate lists the campaigns Cosio took part in between September 28th, 1915 and April 16th, 1917, including Champagne, Somme, and Aisne. The certificate measures 8 x 12¼” and is mounted to a board which appears to have been done during the period considering the board it was mounted on has a lovely advertisement depicting two people drinking on a biplane and raising a glass to the sun. The citation mentions Cosio’s courage in combat in Champagne, Somme, and Aisne. The medals are attached to the certificate and have been there for a very long time. This is a fantastic set, ready for further research and display!
