Armadillidium vulgare thrive in both arid and temperate environments, and have a harder exterior making them not ideal as a feeder isopod.Wild Type isopods are the OG roly-polys you remember from your childhood. They are grey in color with the occasional golden fleck patterning on their pereons. The culture we currently breed them in was originally started from a small colony we collected from behind our shop in early 2019. We didn't make them available to the public until late 2021, ensuring the original isopods of the colony had passed on and at least 2 generations had been reproduced to make available safely.
