"Shadow and Light"

Original acrylic painting on a recycled desk drawer. I've deliberately left the blemishes on the wood's surface. The nicks, gouges and cracks add character and authenticity to the painting. It can be hung on the wall using the attached picture wire. "Shadow and Light" I gave birth to twins today, Shadow and Light - they are here to stay. Everyone smiles at Light, they engage her in play. While Shadow gets frowns and looks of dismay. I love them both, as any mother should but my heart goes out to Shadow, she’s often misunderstood. Shadow is moody and shy, she takes particular delight in making me cry. She asks difficult questions, ones that confound and scare. Questions who’s answers don’t always seem fair.   That’s why I love her, this dark carrier of light. She touches my soul with her profound insights. J.
