This is a BEAUTIFUL Fossil Jaw from an Ice Age Wolf (Canis lupus) from the Pleistocene of Siberia! The jaw is in incredible condition with nearly all teeth including a complete canine tooth! A bit of putty was in the canine socket to keep the tooth in place and keep the fossil stable, but none of the teeth or the bone has been repaired or restored in anyway! The jaw measures 7.134 Inches (18.12 cm) and comes in a clear floating frame with stands for easy transport and a beautiful display! Wolves are large canines that are subspecies of Canis lupus, The species that includes not only wolves but also domestic dogs which are believed to be the descendants of wolves themselves. There are numerous subspecies of wolf alive today and several extinct species that lived during the Ice Age. Adult wolves can reach over five feet and length and average about 90 pounds, although particularly large individuals reaching 170 pounds have been documented.
