The David

David was a trader on Wall Street for over 20 years. He was working at the World Trade Center on 9/11. David was on the 8th floor of the North Tower when the first plane hit and he immediately started running. He was on the Brooklyn Bridge by the time the second plane hit. He lost a lot of friends that day. David lives alone and doesn’t have a wife or children; he describes himself as stubborn and independent. When he was hospitalized for a back injury, he was connected to JASA’s Home-Delivered Meals program. Two years ago, he was walking across the street with his birthday cake, and he was hit by a car. JASA’s social workers were again there to help. David says the meals are really good and everyone at JASA treats him royally. He says that staff go above and beyond, for example, opening up cans that they know he has trouble opening. He appreciates that they check in on him and treat him with respect.
