Shiny copper comal hammered by hand. A comal is a flat cooking tool commonly used throughout México to cook a variety of dishes, and is often made of clay or cast-iron. Use our copper comal to heat tortillas, melt quesadillas, or toast spices. It also functions as a beautiful serving platter, excellent for a cheese or charcuterie plate, desserts, and much more. Copper is an excellent heat conductor, making it great to cook with. However, our copper comal is unlined, and we therefore do not recommend cooking (or serving) with acidic foods (such as fruits, vinegar, wine, etc.) which will react with the copper surface.  We work with a collaborative of artisans in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán who produce these beautiful pieces using recycled copper.  Care Notes: Copper will not rust, but it will naturally tarnish or patina over time and/or with exposure to moisture.
