Oaxaca Black Clay Mezcal Copitas with Faces - Set of 2
A set of two black clay mezcal copitas (meaning little cups) featuring whimsical faces, individually handmade in Oaxaca, a region of southern México. This design feature (with the face) is common throughout Oaxaca, and has been traced to the Monte Albán time period (the ancient Zapotec metropolis). The copitas are intended to be used for sipping mezcal or tequila; the wide and tall shape will help the spirit open up, releasing aromas and enhancing the tasting experience. You'll be transported directly to Oaxaca, the capital of mezcal, when sipping from these earthy, black clay copitas. A style of black clay pottery unique to Oaxaca, barro negro is distinguished by its color and finish. It's origins date back centuries and the color is derived not from dye or glaze but from the use of special, locally-sourced clay (free of chemicals, lead and/or glaze).
