Cucamelon aka Mouse Melon "Cucumber" Heirloom Vegetable SeedsI can understand the cucamelon craze. They produce loads of grape size, watermelon look alike "cucumbers" that can be eaten fresh on top of a salad or pickled to make mini pickles. What caught my attention to this crop was the fact that it is perennial in warmer zones where it doesn't snow, like my Florida garden. Plant once and enjoy years of harvest. If your in a colder climate they can be grown as a long lived annual but will die off once the first frost arrives. In my opinion, they taste just like cucumbers. They are not in the same Cucumis sativus family as traditional cucumbers. Harvest when they are 1 inch long. There are other names for this crop such as: Mouse Melon, Sandia de Raton, Mexican Sour Gherkin, Mexican Miniature Watermelon, and Mexican Sour Cucumber.
