This is an extra soft piece, and it will only get softer with every wash, as the handspun yarns have been starched for weaving. The warp is handspun cotton in ixcaco and a variety of white cotton dyed with local plants. The weft is also handspun, with white cotton dyed in natural indigo grown and processed by the master's spinner's family.  The brown is the heirloom "ixcaco" (pronounced <ishkako>). This beautiful variety naturally yields less bolls than its white counterpart, and the fibers are also shorter. These factors make ixcaco a less desirable cotton tree to grow under normal conditions.
