They Tried.... 9x12" Original Collage

- When I read this quote, I just knew I had to illustrate it! So powerful! So intense! It was written by Greek poet and writer, Dinos Christianopolos (1931-2020). The phrase has a long history, but has been most recently adopted by Mexican activists who use it in support of Ayotzinapa 43 (the 43 students who disappeared in Iguala, Mexico in 2013) along with the ongoing US immigration movement. Perhaps you, too, can adopt it and give it special meaning to struggles you or loved ones are facing.  - I created this collage with hand cut and hand painted decorative papers. It measures 9x12" with a 1.5" decorative edge.• The collage is sealed with matte medium and a final coat of artist grade UV filter varnish. This will protect your art from fading and is non-yellowing. The adhesive is polymer based and can take humidity from bathrooms.
