Worn fabrics are troves of memory, connecting us to others through their warmth, familiarity and domesticity. They return us home and transport us away - enlivening chapters of our lives that may have faded or been mislaid. The humble sock is an object not simply of practicality but of comfort, intimacy and adventure: a central player in a challenging hike, a beloved gift from a friend, a nostalgic vestige of heady school days.Similarly, the practice of weaving is an act of connection with our bodies and minds. More still, it may be an essential tool in the face of the loss we each face in our daily lives: the fading of a friendship, the missing of a goal, the death of a loved one, an ignored intention, a job rejection.
