Aia Vecchia - Sor Ugo - Bolgheri Rosso

Overview: Aia Vecchia is situated deep in the Tuscan countryside between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci and next to the Tyrrhenian coast, an area where a particularly favorable microclimate and ideally suited soils make possible the production of very high quality wines, known as Bolgheri. Some of Italy’s best known producers have a long and successful wine producing history here. The owners, the Pellegrini Family, have been grape growers in the Bolgheri area for several generations and decided to found Aia Vecchia in 1996 with the mission to create a portfolio of small lot, high quality wines.  Sor Ugo is Aia Vecchia's flagship wine, a Bordeaux-blend Super Tuscan created by the prominent enologist Tibor Gal. It is named after Ugo, the first Pellegrini family member who started to work with grapes and wines a century ago (Sor is an old honorific, short for Signor).
