Penny Harter, co-author with her late husband William J. Higginson of The Haiku Handbook, is a past-president of the Haiku Society of America. Her work, both haiku-related and free verse, appears in numerous journals and anthologies. Among her many published books and chapbooks, six feature haiku and related genres. Journals such as Persimmon Tree, Rattle, Tattoo Highway, Tiferet, and Windhover have published her work, and a poem of hers was featured in American Life in Poetry. Her newest collections of poems are A Prayer the Body Makes (2020) and Still-Water Days (2021), both from Kelsay Books. Other recent books include The Resonance Around Us (Mountains and Rivers Press); One Bowl (Snapshot Press); and Recycling Starlight (Mountains and Rivers Press).
