These tumbled and polished Apache Tears come directly from the San Carlos Indian Reservation in Arizona. They are mined by Native Americans that live on the reservation and sold to a nearby supplier who then polishes them. These are professionally and properly tumbled and polished. When tumbled too long they end up all almost perfect circles and they lose their unique natural shapes. Not tumbled enough and they have pits in the polished surface. Improperly processed and they will have a dull polish instead of a nice glassy finish.Apache Tears are black obsidian but they are unique because they are opaque when you hold them up to the light whereas other types of black obsidian are not opaque.
