Overview The 8th generation (C8) of the Chevrolet Corvette is an engineering marvel, combining breathtaking capability with next-generation efficiency that transfers from street to track. However, the Corvette engineers left some room for aerodynamic enhancement to lower lap times and increase driver confidence. A great starting point for aero tuning is the rear diffuser. Why would we start with a rear diffuser? Rear diffusers are extremely efficient downforce-producing devices when designed properly. We set out to produce a functional rear diffuser for the Corvette Stingray (C8) using state-of-the-art CFD processes and good design practices. The result is a diffuser that adds stability by creating low pressure on the bottom surface and reducing drag by reducing the wake region behind the vehicle, thereby reducing the force pulling the car rearward and generating downforce.
