Curly Tasmanian blackwood scales. Tasmanian/Australian blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) is an absolutely gorgeous wood species that is very closely related to Hawaiian koa.  Like koa, it often exhibits spectacular, tight curly figure, chatoyance, and a variety of coloration.    These beautiful, curly Tasmanian blackwood scales have been stabilized by the professionals at K&G.  Home stabilizing is great, but in our experience, if you want the highest quality, most consistent results, you need professional level equipment and resin.  K&G has continually proven to us that their process is worth the increased cost. These scales have a shallow check on one scale (shown closely in video), so they have been cut oversized, and the price reduced. Scales measure 6.3" x 2" x .23"
