
Sockeye Salmon Fillets (per lb)
These are Sockeye Fillets flash frozen at peak freshness, and caught when they're at peak condition. Sockeye (in Alaska known as Red Salmon) is considered by many the most flavorful salmon, with a dense, deep red filet that is ideal for almost any kind of cooking. Our fillets are individually vacuum sealed, allowing you to thaw as much or as little as needed. Each fillet averages about 0.75 lb, perfect for two servings. This year we have shipped skin-on Sockeye fillets. Abe and Bob Wolfe caught all of these fish on Bob's F/v Aghileen in Cook Inlet. Some were filleted, packed, and frozen by us at the shop of the Chugach Wild Salmon Company here in Homer (Thanks Bob Wolfe!) and other Sockeye fillets were caught by us and handled the same way by Tanner's Fish Processing in Ninilchik. We remove the rib bones but pin bones remain in the fish. There really is no way to remove pin bones from a wild skin-on salmon fillet without wrecking the meat EXCEPT that they are easily pulled after cooki
