Full Moon Rising
After an evening photoshoot along the Des Moines River, Marcia and I were heading home when I spotted the full moon rising over this backwater marsh. Not having a tripod along, I laid in the roadside ditch in an attempt to hold the camera steady for long exposures. A Polk County sheriff driving by spotted me, pulled over and asked what was going on. I explained I was taking photos for future paintings. He asked if by any chance I was Larry Zach. When I said yes he said, "Hell, I've got your paintings all over my house!", then wished us well and proceeded on his way. There is something magical about nature at night, especially when the scene is illuminated by a full moon. I decided to call it Full Moon Rising.
