MANA’OLANA — KEEPING HOPE ALIVE

THE STORY Life in Hawaii is beautiful. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with its challenges, or its share of bad days. After all, that’s just life itself. And yet, with aloha — love — as the spiritual guide, Hawaiians have a deep belief in mana’oana: Things always get better. There’s light at the end of each tunnel. It’s a higher way of thinking, an optimistic outlook, nurtured by deep connections with nature and community. Grounded among them, even the hardest struggles become manageable, a path forward appears. That’s what I wish for you as well — and I hope that this image can carry forth that resilient, optimistic, loving island spirit and remind you that it’s lived within you, too, all along.
