2014 Weinbach "Cuv̩e Th̩o" Gewurztraminer Alsace

The 2014 Gewurztraminer Cuv̩e Theo is a 100% Clos des Capucins, and starts very clear and fresh on nose with coolish, flinty, spicy aromas and just a hint of rose petals and limes. With more aeration, this bouquet is floral like a biodynamic vineyard in a rocky terroir in summer, offering fennel seeds and lemon skins, whereas typical Traminer flavors are rather discreet or restrained. Highly elegant and piquant on the palate, and very grippy thanks to the mineral soul and the fine and useful tannins, this is a very delicate and mouth-watering, dry-styled Gewurz. The umami flavors make this excellent 2014 Gewurztraminer a perfect wine for Indian, Chinese and Japanese dishes. (SR)
