CANDLES  - One of the few images I created that was based on an actual photo was this drawing of my sister-in-law (age 3) lighting the Shabbat candles. Simple in concept, I chose to use my artistic style to make it unique. A religious ritual practiced by Jewish women on a weekly basis, lighting candles honors the Sabbath and is deeply meaningful to the women who partake in this mitzvah (good deed). Passing by this image daily, hung proudly near my Shabbat candlesticks, I find myself looking forward to the day of rest even if it's only Monday. MEDIUMS- Ink and graphite pencil.
