
Exploring the Time Travel Genre ~ with Abigail Kirby
"Lost time is never found again"(Franklin).....or is it? Time plays not only a structural role in a story, but an aesthetic role as well. In this workshop with expert Abigail Kirby, explore the most memorable time travel stories and learn the ways storytellers have been able to transport characters and audiences across time through various plot devices and structural choices. Readers and writers alike will leave this workshop with a new appreciation for what goes into making the genre of time travel tick! Abigail Kirby holds a Masters in Media and Cinema Communications. Her research thesis titled "The Fan/Producer Duality in Micro Fandoms: Examinations of Collaboration, Creation, and Capital" focused on fans as the co-creators of new texts. Much of her other research focuses on the analysis of popular culture and fandom studies. Abigail has taught writing classes in conjunction with Northwestern University since 2016 and is currently a writer and editor for The Daily Fandom.
