Perennial with yellow flowers and red fruit and thorns. 2-3 ft tall by 1-4 ft wide. Suitable to grow in: 10A, 10B, 11, 8A, 8B, 9A, 9B Evergreen. Propagation by planting of fragments.  Best planted in full sun. Small specimen plant or low growing hedge. Plant where no one will be walking due to thorns. Prefers hot, dry conditions.    Nectar plant for Meske's skipper butterflies. Attracts bees and other pollinators.  Opuntia Austria or humifusa 1 gallon
