The challenge of deciphering a puzzle in order to reach a central treasure, all while avoiding deadly traps, has been an integral part of architectural designs found in palaces, temples, and pyramids dating back to the Ancient World. Labyrinthine patterns have adorned coins, graced the floors of Medieval cathedrals, been etched into English greens, and more recently, reimagined in modern mysteries, films, and video games. The act of solving a labyrinth has consistently held a central role in the pursuit of self-awareness, creative enlightenment, and the transcendence of the ordinary.  Labyrinth and text artwork inspired by graffiti at Pompeii.
