Writing Intensive (elective)
Class Description: Far too many students approach writing the same way the first rider approached a horse—jump on, and hope you go in the right direction and know when to stop! Wouldn’t it be easier to approach writing as a skill that can be learned piece by piece? This course does exactly that, guiding the student through various exercises with a strong focus on academic writing (though the skills can be applied to anything from fiction to poetry). Both the naturally talented student and the most abject word-clunker can expect to learn something to improve their gifts. Nota Bene: Students are expected to have a basic understanding of the mechanics of English grammar. Students in grade 7 & 8 should consider English 1 or 2 for writing instruction and grammar basics. Credits: 1 (Elective), Non-honors Pre-requisites: This course is for high school students only. Mtg. Days: 2 days a week Please note that each section will be limited to 15 students!
