Bird-of-paradise Strelitzia reginae) is a native of South Africa. The leathery leaves are held upright on stiff leafstalks and can get about 6 inches wide and 18 inches long when plant fully mature. The evergreen leaves of bird-of-paradise do not drop from the plant, which makes it an excellent addition around pool, low maintenance when planted outdoors in warm climate. Does well potted, even blooms a little better when root bound. In colder climates, Bird of Paradise can be used as a houseplant. Full sun to bright filtered light, rich fast draining medium.
