The well known, traditional triple goddess image depicts a waxing crescent moon/full moon/waning crescent moon which represents the goddess in her triple form, maiden/mother/crone. As a queer, non binary person who wasn't sure if I wanted kids or identified with motherhood, I felt that the full moon didn't quite resonate with me. I wanted something in the middle of life and this image that maintained the fullness, authority, and power of the full moon. The pink triangle was used primarily as an identifier for gay men during the atrocities of the Holocaust. The pink triangle was reclaimed as an iconic gay/queer symbol during the AIDS crisis most notably by the organization ACT UP.
