THE TUNNEL The tunnel here in Ketchikan has a lot of stories attached to it.  Most of them are not true.  It was built to connect old Ketchikan to New Town.  Back in the early 50's the only way around "Nob Hill" was a narrow wooden viaduct.  With the new traffic brought to town by logging and the Pulp Mill it was too small and weak so they blasted through the rock and finished the 274' tunnel in 1954.  Notice the houses above it.  They were there years before the tunnel was built.  The eagle totem was carved by Nathan Jackson. He is one of the best known carvers in Alaska and a very nice man. I very seldom remarque this piece.  I love it in just the plain Green mat.  Blue looks good too. High quality print from original watercolor by Maida Kelley. Printed on 100% rag watercolor paper just like original watercolor. Choose from 6 different mat colors to suit your style. Matted with PH neutral white core mat board to keep your print crisp and clear for years to come. Encased in
