The print was created in a Reduction carve-print cycle in which every new color must be carved out of the block. In this case, teal was the first color printed followed by red and then black.  ORIGINAL RELIEF PRINTIn relief printmaking, an artist applies ink to a hand-carved block and then burnishes the inked relief onto a piece of paper.
