The print was created in a repetitive carve-print cycle in which every new color must be carved out of the block. ORIGINAL RELIEF PRINTIn relief printmaking, an artist applies ink to a hand-carved block and then burnishes the inked relief onto a piece of paper. Multiple originals are possible by re-inking the carved surface and burnishing the relief onto a new piece of paper.
