
SPECIAL APPEARANCE: Naturally Dyed + Handwoven Textile Workshop with @salt.textile.studios
Join weaver and textile artist Kayla Powers for a Natural Dye + Weaving weekend intensive. Students will be guided from start to finish in creating a plant-dyed, handwoven textile in this special 2-day workshop. The first class will be spent learning about botanical color, processing roots, flowers and berries for dye, mordanting and dyeing fibers. At the second session Kayla will teach how to warp a table-top rigid heddle loom and then we will begin weaving with our naturally dyed materials, learning different techniques on the loom and exploring texture, pattern and design. Students will leave with the knowledge and skills to work with plant dyes at home as well as how to create a finished weaving. No previous experience necessary.
