Cloud Drift Cowl Kit

This lovely Cloud Drift Shawl is Gudrun Johnston’s pattern for Rhinebeck!  The construction is a nod to Shetland haps with the use of yarn overs at one edge creating the shaping. The garter stitch mosaic pattern is a different way to play with color without stranding yarn. The mosaic motif reminds Gudrun and the rest of us of Sashiko, and is perfect for the harmonious blend of a Japanese milled yarn held with one from Shetland! Cloud Drift uses Jamieson of Shetland Spindrift, with the MC held with Madelinetosh Silk Cloud. The Silk Cloud used in Cloud Drift is a custom color created to match one of Gudrun’s all time favorites of Spindrift, Old Gold. Gudrun and Madelinetosh named the Silk Cloud “Plivver.” This is the Shetland name for the Golden Plover bird, which has some of this beautiful hue in its plumage.
