Galaxy Magnolia | Magnolia x 'Galaxy'
This Saucer Magnolia is unique in form and flower among cultivated magnolias, Galaxy is a single-trunked, upright tree with a narrow crown and ascending branches. Blooming later in the spring than other varieties, therefore the flower buds are likely to avoid possible spring frost damage. The large 8-10” flowers are red-purple, profuse, and slightly fragrant. Like many other Magnolias, this tree does best with mulch around the root zone and protection from strong winds. Use as a specimen or accent where spring flowers can be appreciated.
