SAPPHIRE - 10x10 ON CANVAS

ABOUT THIS COLLECTION:Being at ease working in large scale, it was a fun challenge for me switching gears to create a collection of smaller studies - a combination of paint and re-purposed paper & fabrics. Instead of feeling limited by my surface, I was focused on two notions: possibilities & expansion.My hand is evident in this series - in the raw edges of the textile cutouts, in the brushwork pulled to the edges. I chose each shape and line. I trimmed, flipped, moved, pressed & affixed dozens of pieces, I turned each canvas upside down and around again.Each painting, with its own personality, represents a certain impulse of my process - it highlights the habits of my color selections, a refuge in repetitive shapes, my desire for control & spontaneity… All of which are clues to the larger puzzle of my restless imagination that collides with my obsession with patterns, color, and composition.Robust and vibrant, every piece in this collection enhances the other.
