USS Missouri Teak Challenge Coin "80th Anniversary"
Made from the original Teak Deck of the USS Missouri, installed as the ship was being built in the Brooklyn Shipyards in 1944. The USS Missouri Teak Challenge Coin "80th Anniversary" is a perfect keepsake of the bravery and sacrifices of so many for the cause of freedom. This coin commemorates the launch of the Mighty Mo eighty years ago. Over the years, the USS Missouri served in three wars before being retired where it is docked proudly in Pearl Harbor. Upon this hallowed Teak, world peace began. Standing on this Teak deck, General Douglas MacArthur oversaw the signing of the Japanese surrender on September 2, 1945 ending World War II. Over the past 10 years, the USS Missouri Memorial Association has restored the Mighty Mo, replacing the original Teak deck with new Teak planks. The USSM Memorial Association initiated a partnership with the Hawaii craftsmen of Martin & MacArthur to use these original Teak deck planks to create commemorative mementos. Proceeds support the vita
