Stare: Print

Okay, so here's the story... My partner dragged me out for one more hike before the days end. He wanted to see a moose, but it was getting dark, and the mosquitos were incredibly thick (I mean swarms of them...). Don't get me wrong, I definitely wanted to see a moose - but I also wanted to make it out of there without being (literally) eaten alive by mosquitoes. I kept insisting to turn around, and was quite honestly miserable, but Thomas kept pushing forward. "Just a little farther" he kept saying, while I swiped away another dozen mosquitoes. Finally, as we neared the end of the hike, we saw her: a beautiful moose, munchin' on some leaves. She caught us completely off guard, and we almost missed her. Thank god we didn't. This is one of my favorite photos, as it's so interesting to look at. She graced me with this head-on shot, and it was worth the 200 mosquito bites I had to endure.
