Hemp Rope Heaving Line w/ Monkey Fist
A traditional heaving line made from 100% pure hemp rope (Langman Ropes, N.L.). 5/16" diameter. Low stretch, 900lb tensile strength. Features a 4-finger Monkey's Fist knot, tightly formed over a 2-ounce spherical core, then spliced and tapered into the standing part. The bitter end also has a spliced eye for easy attachment to docklines, warps, lanyards, tow bridles, buoyant devices, etc. Includes branded leather tag with marked length. Available in 60' length (standard) or 100' (extra long). COMMENTS: For many centuries of seafaring history, Hemp rope was the most widely used type of cordage, right up until the mid-1900's when synthetic alternatives came into being. As natural fibers go, pure hemp offers much better strength, handling and rot-resistance than manilla, sisal, cotton or jute. Despite its rustic appearance, this heaving line is the "real thing," ready for use, professionally built at our rigging shop. Could also make a fine display in the home or office. > View more
